Jonah 1: 1-3
If you know anything about the Bible, you have heard of Jonah. God called Jonah to go do some preaching for Him but the Bible declares here in verse 3 that Jonah headed in the other direction. Take note in verse 3 what happens to a person that tries to run away from God. The Bible declares that Jonah went “down to Joppa”. And then Jonah went down into that ship. You see, when a person tries to get away from God their life will go down!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, please help me that I may always go in the direction that you would have me to go!

JAMES 5: 14-15
According to today’s scripture, there is great power in prayer. The Bible here teaches that if one is sick and calls for the elders of the church to anoint one with oil and pray for them in the name of the Lord, that prayer of faith shall save the sick, raise him up and even get their sins forgiven! Now, here is my thought for today. With you and I having that kind of power around us in Jesus name in prayer, why in the world would we complain and belly ache and whine to others when we are suffering instead of spending time in prayer? Think about it! Then pray instead of complaining!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, please remind me to do less complaining and do more praying!

JOSHUA 24: 29-31
What wonderful words that could have been spoken at the funeral service for Joshua. Verse 31 states “and Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua. What a legacy to leave behind. That Joshua lived a life that led others to serve the Lord! That got me to thinking-could that be said at our service if something happens to you or I? Could it be said that people around us because of the life we lived or the example we set, others followed the Lord? Just a thought!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, use me to lead others to you! May people see Jesus shining through me!!
10/4/25
MATTHEW 28: 16-20
With the power of our Savior- verse 18-why do we worry about things? Why do we fret about things? Why do we wonder how we will get through things? And with our Lord having all that power given to Him from the Father Almighty God, why in the world are we not busy going and doing the work for Him that He commanded for us to do in verse 19 and 20??
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, let me be mindful that you can do all things which means you can take care of all of my needs and cares! 10/5/25
ISAIAH 40: 31
Do you ever have a problem with waiting? I do. When I want something to happen, I want it to happen right now! But, the Bible tells us here that waiting on the Lord comes with blessings! What blessings? 1-I will have renewed or more strength if I wait on the Lord. 2-I can soar over my problem with the wings of an eagle if I wait on the Lord. 3- I wont get tired if I wait on the Lord. Today’s lesson- trust the Lord and wait on Him!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, give me strength and remind me daily Lord to wait on you!

LUKE 23: 33

Every now and then, I think that we should just remember what the Lord Jesus did for us! A cross is not pretty. A cross is not a calm place. A cross is a place of judgment. A place of great pain. Yet, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, God in flesh, went to a cross for you and me! What a Savior!! Let’s just praise Him today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for what you did for me on that cross!
10/7/25
DEUTERONOMY 11:  26-28
In today’s text, the Lord give His people a choice. They could either be blessed for obeying the Lord of they could face a curse or judgment if they did not serve the Lord. My mom used to give me the same choice. I would sometimes get a toy as a child if I behaved and listened to her and daddy or I would get a whipping if I did not listen to them. You know what? I think that we should listen and obey the Lord today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for giving me the chance to be blessed if I will listen to you!
10/8/25
MATTHEW 8: 23-27
Every now and then we just need to be reminded that Jesus is in control during the storms. I love verse 26 here- “He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm”. You may be facing a storm today. The waves may be high. The wind may be rocking your boat. Call on Jesus!! He can handle the storm! Don’t be surprised if He asks you and I the same question- what are we afraid of?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, thank you for still being in control- even during the storms!
10/9/25
PSALM 70: 1-5
Have you ever needed the Lord’s help, like right now? In the psalm, this is David’s plea! Notice the words “make haste to help me, O Lord” in verse 1. David makes this plea again in verse 5- “make haste unto me O God”. You see, there is nothing wrong with letting the Lord know that we need help now. But remember, after we make this please to the Lord, we must wait on the Lord and trust Him!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Help me Lord to trust you more every day!
10/10/25
ROMANS 6: 12-14
Sin is like many diseases. If left untreated, it can destroy or even kill a person. The Bible here is talking to saved people, the family of God! We are commanded here to not let sin “reign” in our bodies (v 12). We are told not to let sin have dominion over us. Hold on a minute- if I am saved, how can I sin? The Lord saved my soul, not my flesh! You see, the body can still fail God even after the soul is saved. This is why I had better live as close to the Lord as I can every day!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, please keep me away from sin today.
10/11/25
JOB 2: 7-10
Poor old Job! This man lost his family, his wealth and his health in a short time. Now, his wife comes along and tells him you need to keep your integrity. She tells Job that he should curse God and die. What a wonderful friend to Job!! Never let anyone or anything in this world take your eyes off of the Lord! Notice the last line of verse 10 “in all this did not Job sin with his lips”. Keep looking to the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to never ever take my eyes off of you!
10/12/25
JOHN 9: 6-14
What a miracle the Lord did in this mans life in our text today! This young man had been blind all of his life. Jesus came along, the Son of God, and healed him! Now, you would think that this would be the talk of the day, Jesus has healed another one! But notice verse 14. Jesus healed this man on the sabbath day. Who in the world would be against the Lord healing on the Sabbath day? Look at the first few words of verse 15- “the Pharisees”. Wow! Don’t let anybody steal your joy today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for doing a work in this world no matter what man says!
10/13/25
ISAIAH 7: 14
Ok, I know what you are thinking, it’s not Christmas time yet! We usually hear this scripture in a couple of months from now. I just thought that it would be nice if we were reminded what God has done for you and me. You see, this text was penned down a long time ago. Then, many years after it was written, it happened! God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, and He was born of a virgin by the name of Mary. You see, the blood flowing in His veins did not come from his earthly dad, but His blood came from God! Soul cleansing, soul saving blood! Than same blood was shed on a cross to cover all sins for whomever would call on the Lord to save them! Wow! What a Savior!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for being born on this earth for me and thank you for shedding that precious blood for me!
 10/14/25
JOHN 14: 12-14
There is power, great power in the name of Jesus! Notice the power in verses 13 and 14 here. In the name of Jesus the Lord will do a work in my life. In the name of Jesus there is strength. There is healing. There is fellowship. As you study these verse today, stand upon the power in the name of Jesus!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for the power in your name!!
10/15/25
EZEKIEL 1: 26-28
Wow! I believe that Ezekiel was seeing the Glory of God! Notice the precious stones talked about in the text. Sounds like the City of God in Revelation 21. Verse 27 talks about the appearance of fire which I believe is talking about the power of the Holy Ghost. And notice verse 28-talking about the bow, or rainbow, after rain on earth. The promise of God. Verse 28, just before the Lord speaks to Ezekiel, the prophet talks about the glory of the Lord. We have just read about the beauty, the Glory of the Lord!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for showing us your glory in your word!!
10/16/25
MATTHEW 24: 36-42
Jesus is coming!! The Lord is coming soon to call the church out of this world! There are many false prophets today saying when-they are setting dates. Some are even saying that He is not coming at all. I have news for you-according to the word, HE IS COMING! No man knows the hour, but notice the scripture, we are close!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, until you come to call us out, help me share the Gospel with others!
10/17/25
PSALM 25: 16-21
In today’s text, Davis cries out for the Lord to have mercy on him and for the Lord to please remember him in his troubles. Have you ever been through troubles and you prayed and prayed and did not know if God was hearing your prayer or not? This is kind of where David is here. In verse 18, Davis asks the Lord to look upon his afflictions and pain and he also asked God to forgive his sins. If you have prayed and not gotten an answer yet, keep on looking to the Lord. He is there!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to always look to you, even in my times of trouble
10/18/25
REVELATION 6: 12-17
This is not pretty scripture! Today, we are looking at the wrath of God that will come upon this earth in the days after the rapture of His church. If you and I are saved, we will not be here for these bad, dark times. But, just think of some of our friends, our co-workers, even our own neighbors that will be here if they are lost without the Lord. This text makes me shake when I think of all who will face this judgment of God because they did not trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Let’s warn as many people as we can today for Jesus is coming and God’s wrath is on the way.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to share Jesus with someone today!
10/19/25
GENESIS 6: 13-18
I have always loved this scripture. God speaks to Noah and tells him to build a boat. A big boat! God gives Noah the wood to use, the size it should be and God even tells Noah what will happen after this great flood. In verse 18 the Lord let’s Noah know that if he (Noah) will obey him, He will establish a covenant with him. Today’s lesson-listen to the Lord, obey the Lord and remember, God will always do His part of the agreement!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, I want to be faithful to your call and your commands in my life!
10/20/25
MARK 10: 32-34
Today’s text tells again of His coming death and resurrection. The Lord gives His followers details of what was about to happen. Somehow, they missed it. A lot of them did not get what He was saying or they did not understand what He was saying was about to happen. Don’t be too quick to judge these men. Many today, even though we have the word of God, the Bible, right in front of us, still don’t get it. How sad!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, would you remind me daily what you did for me on that cross!
10/21/25
EXODUS 3: 1-6
I often think when Moses got up that morning that this event took place, did he have any idea that he was about to meet God almost face to face? The life of Moses changed forever on this day on that mountain. It has been said that our lives can change in a couple of minutes. I believe that the Bible teaches here that our whole world can change in 30 seconds or less! Moses was never the same after this meeting with Almighty God! Look to the Lord and get ready. The Lord just may have a life changing event in our lives today.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, I pray to always be ready to meet you face to face!
10/22/25
ROMANS 5: 8
This verse is so powerful that it can stand alone in our scripture reading today! Think about this-God loved you and I so much He allowed Jesus Christ, God’s Son, to die for us eve though He knew what bad sinners we would be! Now, that is love!! Even before I was born, God allowed His Son to pay for my sins upon that cross. Think about it-God did not want for me to stop sinning before He had Jesus die for me. God allowed Jesus to die for me knowing how bad a sinner I would be! I will say again- not that is love!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for having Jesus die for me even though you know how bad I would be! Thank you for loving me that much!
10/23/25
PSALM 71: 1-5
I love the first few words in verse 1 here. “In thee O Lord do I put my trust”! The Psalm writer, under the leadership of God the Holy Ghost, asks the Lord to deliver him and to restore him. But the thing I want us to notice out of this text is the statement in verse 1 again. “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust”. Who in this world today can you and I trust to help us make it from day to day? Who else but the Lord can deliver us in this time of trouble? Thank the Lord for always being there!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me daily to put my trust in you!
10/24/25
LUKE 22: 1-6
In today’s scripture the evil plans of man are front and center. The chief priests and scribes are planning to kill Jesus. Let’s take note of this today-that man without God in his heart is easily to be led of the devil to do very bad things. Notice verse 3, then entered satan into Judas. Friends, today’s text should show us that we should live as close to the Lord as we can! The devil is always ready to use you and I if we give him the chance! Never, never give him a chance! Follow Jesus today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Help me Lord to keep my eyes on you always!
10/25/25
JONAH 2: 1-5
Poor old Jonah! God called him in the first chapter of this little book to serve Him. But the Bible declared that Jonah did not listen to the call of God and Jonah went in the other direction from the presence of God. In today’s text, Jonah is in the belly of a big fish as a result of him disobeying God. I don’t know about you, but I have found myself in judgment before God before because I did not listen to God! I am here to tell you that being in the belly of that fish is not a good place to be. My advice-listen to the Lord and do what He tells us to do!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for calling me to serve you. Please help me to obey you today!
10/26/25
ACTS 2: 41-47
I love this scripture! The Lord has allowed me to preach from this text many times over the years about the young New Testament Church. As you read this text today notice the closeness of the group and notice the power of God upon the church! I love verse 47, “Praising God” and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Friends, I love the church but the church does not belong to me and you. The church belongs to the Lord! Let’s pray for the church and ask God to add to it daily!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, thank you for the church! Lord, would you bless it even more today!!
10/27/25
PROVERBS 25: 21-22
Good advice today from the word of God on hot to treat our enemies. The Bible tells us here to meet the needs of our enemy. If he is hungry, give him bread. If he is thirsty, give him water. In other words, don’t try to get even with him. Treat him better than he has or would treat you! Verse 22 teaches that if we do this, God will se that things are taken care of and you will be blessed in the meantime by the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, bless my enemies today! Help me be kind to those that want to hurt me.
 10/28/25
I CORINTHIANS 3: 16-17
This text is made for me today. If you and I are saved, born again, then the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost lives in our hearts. In these old bodies! Then that means that we are to take care of these old bodies before the Lord. We are told here that our bodies become the temple or dwelling place of God. Then we are not to defile the temple. In other words, take care of our bodies. We are to eat right, get rest, and treat our bodies with respect. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I don’t treat my body as I should. Let’s try to do better!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to take better care of my health today as you commanded.
10/29/25
HABUKKUK 1: 1-5
Have you ever prayed and asked the Lord to take care of something or someone and you did not see where the Lord was doing anything? That is the case in today’s text. Habakkuk had prayed and asked the Lord to deal with the violence of the people of the land. As far as Habakkuk could see, the Lord was not doing anything. But verse 5 shows us that the Lord was doing a work that Habakkuk would not believe if God told him about it. In other words, trust the Lord even when you don’t understand what He is doing. God is still in control!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, thank you for always being there doing a work even when I don’t see you!
10/30/25
EPHESIANS 4: 11-16
Today’s scripture tells us where church leadership comes from. Verse 11 reminds us that God calls the leadership. The Bible declares “and He gave”. Then the Lord tells us why He give us leaders in our churches. So that we can grow in the grace of God! So that we can hear the truth and the message from God! And so that the church can fit together right (v 16). Thank God for His calling!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for sending those that the church needs to lead!
10/31/25
PSALM 150:  1-6
Instead of talking about the devil on this last day of October, lets praise the Lord today! As you read these verses today keep in mind this scripture tells us where to praise the Lord (v 1). It tells us why to praise the Lord (v 2). It tells us how to praise the Lord (v 4-5). And it tells us who should praise the Lord (v 6). What a good way to end the month of October!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, I just want to praise and thank you today for who you are!
