GENESIS 39: 1-4
In today’s text there is a them that appears throughout the scripture. Verse 2 tells us that “the Lord was with Joseph”. Verse 3 tells us that “his master saw that the Lord was with him”! Think about it. If the Lord is with a person, that person is already most blessed! Today, as we go about our day, let others see the Lord shining through us!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, may others see you in my life today!
ACTS 3: 19-21
How important is it for the Child of God to give an invitation to a person when we share the Gospel? I believe that the Bible shows us here that it is very important! Verse 19 says that Peter, under the leadership of the Holy Ghost, asks those listening to him to “repent ye therefore ye be converted”. If the Spirit of God led Peter to give a person or persons an invitation, shouldn’t we do the same today? Invite someone to accept Jesus as Savior today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, give me the chance to lead another to Jesus today!
ISAIAH 62: 10-12
I know that Christmas passed going on two months ago, but today’s scripture is teaching that the Savior was coming. I love the phrase in verse 11-“Behold thy salvation cometh”. Today, you and I know from the New Testament that our salvation did come in God’s Son, Jesus Christ! Today’s text ought to remind you and I that God always keeps His word!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, thank you for always keeping your word!
I think that we need to be reminded every now and then how important the Gospel of Jesus Christ is! The spirit here has Paul repeat the message twice. If anybody preaches any other Gospel, let him be accursed! Friends, we must remember that there are not many ways to Heaven, there is only one way! That way is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Remember today how important that message is!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to never sway from the Gospel!
PSALM 62: 1-2
I love this scripture! First, we are to wait on the Lord-verse one. Then, verse two tells us what the Lord shall be in our lives if we are saved. The Lord should be my rock, keeping me stable. My salvation, the one that saved me. My defense, the one who protects me. What a Savior!!  Lets spend time praising Him today!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s spend time thanking the Lord for being in our lives!!
JOHN 19: 1-3
Every now and then I think that we should remember what the Lord went through for you and me! He was scourged. He was beaten with a whip (v 1). The soldiers put a crown of thorns on His head-very painful.  They put a purple robe on Him to mock Him. They made fun of Him being a king. Let’s stop today and remember that Jesus went through a lot for me and you! He did no wrong but He died to pay our sin debt. A debt He did not owe!  What a Savior!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s spend time in prayer today thanking Jesus for what He did for us!
JOB 40: 6-7
Have you ever heard somebody say it’s time to grow up and be a man? This is the message that the Lord has to Job here. Verse 7- “gird up thy loins now like a man” really means pull up your pants like a man! God expects His children-the born again into the family of God- to begin to grow up in the Lord after they are saved. One of the biggest problems today in the family of God is not that people haven’t gotten saved, but they never begin to grow up in Christ after they are saved! Let’s do some self-exams today. Am I growing up in Christ or do I whine and complain about everything? Let’s grow up and serve the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me daily to grow up in Christ!
Today’s reading is short but powerful! The Bible is very straight forward here. Don’t return evil for evil. When someone does you wrong or does something bad to you, do not seek to get even! Have you ever thought about this is how wars start? Someone shoots at others and the others shoot back. Next thing you know, everybody is fighting. The Bible here reminds us to follow good.  Let’s practice doing good to all today. Even when they have been bad to us!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to treat others as I want to be treated.
EZEKIEL 12: 1-2
Have you ever had anybody to tell you to open your eyes and look around you or to open your ears and listen for a change? That is the message that the Lord is giving to Ezekiel to give to his people. The people were rebellious, they had eyes, they had ears, but spiritually they were not seeing or listening to what God was saying to them. How many times do we miss what the Lord is trying to tell us because we may see and hear the world, but we rebel because we are not listening to God.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:   Lord, help me to see that which you want me to see and hear that which you would have me to hear.
MATTHEW 6: 25-27
Do you ever worry about things? Every now and then we need to be reminded as to what worry is-worry is mistrust in God! Jesus tells us here in verse 25 to take no thought, don’t spend time worrying about things. The Lord gives us an example of the birds. Verse 26 says “they do not reap, nor gather into barns”, but the Lord feeds them. I love verse 27, when I worry, how much does it add to my life? Worry does not add to my life, it takes away from it. Stop worrying and Trust the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, give me victory over worry today!!
PSALM 37: 12-13
Today’s text teaches us to stop and remember that God knows about the enemies of His people. God knows their motives, they plot and they gnash their teeth on His people. But the Lord reminds us in verse 13 that He (God) just laughs at them. The Lord tells us that his day (the wicked)is coming! Don’t worry, all of those that are attacking God’s people today and doing bad things to them, God will take care of them. Their judgment is coming!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, protect me and help me to leave the judgment of the wicked to you!
I JOHN 5: 4-5
Has this world ever got the best of you?  I mean, have you ever thought, can I ever get victory over the things of this world? Well, today’s verses have good news for you and me! If I am trusting the Lord, if I am saved, I already have victory over this world! In verses 4 and 5, the “overcometh” that the Bible is taling about is the same “overcometh” that the Bible is talking about in Revelation 21:7. God’s people will make it through this world and will even overcome things of this world when we are saved!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank you Lord for make me an overcomer when I trusted you as my Savior and Lord!
ISAIAH 42: 5-9
In today’s scripture, the Lord reminds us of His power and His mission for His people. First, His power is found in verse 5. He created the Heavens and this earth! He has the power to feed His people and His spirit will walk with them. In verse 7-9 the Lord reminds us that He has the power to open the blind eyes and to free those who are in prison. I love verse 9-the former things are come to pass and new things! He promises to those that trust Him. What a God we serve!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s just spend time praising Him today for who He is!
OK, with today being Valentines Day, I thought that we may want to look at the love chapter in the Bible. When you read these verses today, remember the word “charity” here means love. So every time you see the word charity, use the word love. As we read these verses today, I think we will see how powerful love is to Almighty God! I love verse 8-Love never fails! The Bible declares God is Love!!  I John 4:8-that is who He is!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to have a great love for all!
ISAIAH 43: 11-13
This scripture is beautiful! The Lord puts it right there for you and I. He is the Lord! He is Lord! I really would like to share the second part of verse 11 with everyone on this planet! “Besides me, there is no Savior”!! Just as the Lord was telling the people of the Old Testament that He is the only Savior, He is the only one that could save them and set them free. Jesus Christ is the same today! Only Jesus can set a person free. Only Jesus can give hope to the hopeless. Only Jesus can save a soul!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s spend time in prayer today thanking God for still saving souls today!
For the church to have the power of God upon it, it must be in one accord. Our text today tells us that we must all speak the same thing. For God to use the church, it must be together. Notice the words that the Bible uses here- “perfectly joined together”. The church must be totally together in word, in prayer, in message. I thank God for Victory and the churches around us that are trying to do and be what pleases God!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for churches everywhere that belong to the Lord to be in one accord.
PSALM 148: 1-6
Today’s text does not need much commentary. If you and I are saved today, we need to praise the Lord! I really believe that if we spent more time praising the Lord, we would have less time to complain and bellyache! And less time to think about our problems and our troubles! So, let’s spend time praising the Lord today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank you Lord! Praise His name!!
The power of the name! Every now and then I need to be reminded of the power of the name of Jesus. Notice in today’s text it was Almighty God that gave the Lord that name (v 9) and it is Almighty God that will demand the action that will one day take place at that name- “every knee should bow and that every tongue should confess”. Friends, never take lightly the name of Jesus!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to always glorify the name of Jesus!
PSALM 40: 1-3
I know that we have read these verses before, but I believe that the Lord knew that someone needed to hear this again today! If you have been praying about something today, don’t stop! Keep praying and keep waiting on the Lord! God will bless that patience one day!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to wait on you!
ACTS 26: 24-28
Paul had an opportunity to share the gospel with King Agrippa. Agrippa gave Paul the saddest answer that I believe is found in the Word of God. “Almost thou persuades me to be a Christian”. Think about that today. Agrippa almost got peace and joy in his life. Agrippa almost got his sins forgiven. Agrippa almost received a home in Heaven. What a sad word- almost!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me lead someone to Jesus today!
Have you heard this statement lately- our nation sure does need revival? Well, I believe the recipe for revival is found in this verse. You see, revival is not for the lost, it is for the saved across the land. As you read this verse, take notice as to what God’s people are to do to get revival. From humble themselves and pray to seek God’s face and to turn from our wicked ways. The second half of the verse tell us if we do our part, God will do His part. Remember this, we don’t have to worry about God doing His part. Let’s do our part!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, please send revival to our land!!
LUKE 13: 10-17
Can you imagine, Jesus got in trouble for healing a woman on the Sabbath Day? The ruler of the synagogue spoke harshly to Jesus about healing this woman on the Sabbath Day. I love the Lord’s response in verse 15. “Thou hypocrite”. Notice the response in verse 17 to His words- “all his adversaries were ashamed”. The Lord sure does know how to do things right!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to always answer others in a way that is pleasing to you.
DANIEL 1: 8-10
In today’s text God’s people had been taken into captivity. The young man Daniel has been taken aside from God’s people and appointed (v 5) to get the best food and drink. Daniel and three other young men were going to be raised and taught the ways of a false god. But notice Daniel’s response to this in verse 8. “Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself”. In other words Daniel said no, I will not have the best food and drink and follow a false god. Here is a good lesson for you and I. Let’s not sell out our souls to this world or to a false god. Live for Jesus. Live the Bible way, not the world’s way. Let’s purpose in our hearts to live right!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me keep my focus on you and not the world.
LUKE 7: 11-17
I love today’s scripture. I have made this statement before and I will say it again today. Jesus, in His day of walking this earth, was the worst thing for the funeral business of that day! When Jesus would come across a funeral, He would often just bring the person back! The part of this text that really touched my heart was in verse 13-where the Bible says “He had compassion on her”. Remember, whatever you are going through today, the Lord knows about it and the Lord does care how we feel!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank you Lord for caring for me!
AMOS 9: 1-4
In today’s text, what a picture of the judgment of God! The man of God here saw the Lords standing upon the altar (v 1). God reminds us here that no one can escape His wrath, even His people when we disobey Him! Verse 2 tells us that there is nowhere to hide- “though they did into hell”. Verse 3, “though they hide themselves in the top of Camel”. There is no getting away from God’s judgment. We had better be right before Almighty God! His is love, He is merciful, but He is just!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to stay close by your side.
We need to be reminded as to what Jesus had done for you and I. That’s what the Lord’s table is all about. Every time we partake of the Lord’s table, we should examine our walk with the Lord and we should remember his pain and suffering for us!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank you Lord for what you have done for me!!
GENESIS 1: 3-5
Sometimes we just need to be reminded what Almighty God can do! According to our reading today, God has the power to produce light. It was God that made night and day (v 5). I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I think about the power of God, I am in awe!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, I just want to praise you for your power and grace!
What a way to end the month of February! As you read about the City of God today, do you feel the peace of the place? A pure river, the trees, the fruits, no more curse, which carries with it no more death! Sometimes it is good just to sit and think about the City of God! What a place!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, I praise you and thank you for the beautiful place you have prepared for us!
Acts 26: 24-28
Paul had the chance to speak before some political leaders of his day-he preached Jesus to them! In verse 27, Paul gave King Agrippa an invitation, do you believe the prophet? Taking about the prophecies concerning the Savior, about Jesus Christ. Notice in verse 28 Agrippa said one of the saddest words ever said in the Bible- “almost” !! The king here almost got saved! How sad! Let’s purpose our hearts today to share Jesus with someone! Don’t give up on that one that you have been praying for- almost is not there- keep praying!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help to lead someone to Jesus today!
