Psalm 118:8
The Lord had let me to preach this verse a lot over the years. The message usually goes like this. Why does the Bible teach that it is better to put trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man?  1- Because the Lord is the only one that is the same all the time-Hebrews 18:8.  2- Because the Lord is the only one that can keep me safe- Psalm 23:4.  3- Because the Lord is the only one that can satisfy- Psalm 107:9.  4- Because the Lord is the only one that could save my soul- Acts 4:12.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray for the Lord to remind us to always put our trust in Him above everyone else!
Luke 8:22:25
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like storms! According to our text today, I don’t think the disciples did either. The Lord thought a very important lesson to the disciples and to you and I! The lesson is when the storm comes instead of being afraid, have faith in the Lord! Sounds pretty simple to me!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY- Let’s pray for the Lord to remind us to stay calm when the storms com and look to Him!
Psalm 116:15
Today’s text is short but powerful! Think about it for a minute. Why does the Bible teach that “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”? Well, think about II Corinthians 5:8. The scripture teaches that for the salvation of God, the one who is saved, at death they will be with the Lord! I don’t know about you, but as a born again child of God in Jesus Christ, I believe that will be a precious time for me too when I die and I am in the presence of the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY-  Lets pray for the Lord to use us to His glory-until we reach Heaven!
John 8:34-34
Wow, what word from our Savior on this July 4th Independence Day! Remember in America we see this day as our freedom day! Jesus is talking about being freed from sin! I don’t know about you, but I deal with the aggravation of sin in this old body every day! The Lord reminds me in verse 36, when the Son sets me free, I am free!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for the Lord to clean our lives of all sin!
Habakkuk 1: 1-5
In today’s scripture, the prophet Habakkuk is asking the Lord a very important question. Lord, with all the wickedness around me, how long will you allow it to go on before you do something about it? In verse 5 the Lord answers Habakkuk. The Lord tells the prophet that I will do a work in your day, but you would not believe me if I told you what I am about to do! Today, things are bad in our land but I believe that the Bible here is remind us that God is still doing a work today in America! We may not see it, but believe it! God is still in control!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, please keep us doing a work in America! 7/6/24
I Corinthians 1: 18-21
I love verse 21 in this text! “It please God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe”. Some, even in our churches today, believe that we should cut back on the preaching and spend more time on fellowshipping or music. I believe that the Lord means what He says. The Lord still uses Bible preaching, preaching of the cross preaching, to touch hearts and save souls!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Pray for the God call prophets of today to preach the word more than ever!
Jeremiah 7: 1-3
God is talking to His people in this text. I want you to notice four commandments that the Lord tells you and I to do in these verse.  1- Stand  2- Proclaim  3- Hear (v24)  4- Amend.  Each of these words carry a direct command from the Lord. If you and I would practice in the Lord these four words today, our lives will be stronger for the Lord tomorrow!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to follow your every command today and to serve you better than ever before!
Philippians 1: 20-21
I love this scripture! I know what you are thinking. You say that about every text! Not all, but I do love this! Verse 20 reminds me that after I am saved, Jesus Christ shall be magnified in my body whether I am dead or alive! Think about what the Bible is teaching in verse 21. Paul, under leadership of the Holy Ghost, is saying if I live on this earth it is for Christ that I live. If I die, I gain because I am going to be with Jesus. I am a winner either way! A life with Jesus Christ in it, is a life worth living!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, let others see Jesus in me today!
Genesis 1: 14-19
It’s good every now and then to remember where the light in this old world comes from. No, the light of this world does not come from one of the big power companies! The light did not come from a big lab somewhere where they have studied light. God was the one that made this world, then God was the one that gave light to the world! Verse 18 reminds us that it was God that made the day and night. Not the power company!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s just thank Almighty God for the light in this world today!
I Peter 5: 8-9

Sometimes I need to be reminded about the devil and how to have victory over him! Verse 8 in today’s text reminds me to always be on the lookout for the devil at all times because he wants to destroy me! Verse 9 tells me how to deal with him- “resist steadfast in the faith”-stand in opposition of him in the faith or in the name of Jesus Christ! The Bible reminds us here that we can have victory over the devil if we don’t go alone with him but stand against him in the name of Jesus! If the devil is giving you a hard time today, resist him and remind him that you belong to Jesus!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for victory over the devil today! 7/11/24
Psalm 145: 8-9
Have you ever been around someone who complains all the time? Nothing is ever good or nothing ever goes right for this person. Maybe today’s text would be good to share with them! I love verse 9- “the Lord is good to all”. It is hard to argue with this verse! Even the biggest complainer in the world cant say that statement is not true! God is good to all of us. That’s why we should be spending more time thanking the Lord for His goodness than we do belly aching!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:   Let’s just thank the Lord for being so good to us daily!
II Timothy 4: 1-3

I really believe that we are living in the world that verse 3 is talking about. The time is now when people do not want to hear sound doctrine! The Bible here tells us that they will want teachers and preachers that make them feel good, even in their sin! Let’s be mindful of this today and let’s pray that no matter what people want to hear from the pulpit, let’s pray that God’s word will come from the pulpit!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for God called preachers today, to preach the word!!
Exodus 3: 13-14
Wow, when Moses, who was making excuses for not doing what God wanted him to do, asked God what is your name, God answered in verse 14 “I am that I am”. We are serving the Great I Am today! Remember this, this is the same I Am in John 14:6. Jesus said I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life! Let’s don’t be like Moses here. When the Great I Am wants us to serve Him, lets serve Him!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for God to use you and I to His glory!! 7/14/24
Luke 18: 18-24

Today’s scripture contains a sad story. A rich young ruler came to the Lord and wanted to know what he had to do to get eternal life. Think about this a minute. This man had everything that the world would say it would take to make you happy. He had position, he had money, he had power. What was he missing in his life? The peace that comes from knowing that you have eternal life because of trusting Jesus Christ! He missed it because he put his riches in front of the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me put you first in my life always! 7/15/24
Job 1: 6-8
In today’s text notice the words that the Lord had to say about Job. Now I know that the Lord is talking to the devil, but in verse 8 he says that Job is a perfect and an upright man that feareth God and Escheweh evil or avoided evil. That is coming from Almighty God! Could he Lord make that statement about me and you today? I don’t worry much about what other people think about me, but I do care what the Lord thinks about me! What could the Lord say about me and you today?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray that we always live in a way this is pleasing to Almighty God!
Romans 13: 11-14
We are getting close to Jesus coming back to get the church than ever before! Today’s scripture tells us this and reminds us in verse 11 that we had better wake up and realize that time is running out on this earth! Notice verse 12-the night is far spent, the day is at home! Child of God wake up and know that what we are going to do for the Lord we had better do it now!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me keep my focus on you and be wide awake today!
Ecclesiastes 7:1
Ok, I have to admit that today being my birthday had something to do with me picking out today’s scripture. But there is some good stuff in this verse. First, the Bible here talks about the value of a good name! We had better be honest and trustworthy in our daily lives. Second, if you and I are saved we should under verse 1 of Ecclesiastes 7 more than ever before. If I am saved, the thought of dying in the old world and going to be with the Lord is a great thing! So, help me celebrate my birthday by telling someone else about Jesus today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s thank the Lord for the day that we have to praise Him in!!
Revelation 21: 22-27
Every now and then you just have to look ahead and see what we have to look forward to. This scripture is talking about “New Jerusalem Heaven, the city of God”. Verse 22 and 24 remind us that even though there are 12 gates to the city, they will never close by night because there will be no night there. Verse 26 and 27 reminds us that God will not allow anything evil there. I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to this place!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me share the beauty of Heaven with others today!
Malachi 3: 8-10
Today’s scripture is not so much about money as it is about obeying God! The Lord does not need our money! But we need to be obedient to the Lord and give our tithes and offerings. For being obedient the Lord tells us in verse 10 that we will not be able to handle it all. I learned a long time ago, if I give to God what He asks, that tithe and offering, the Lord will take care of the rest of my finances!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to always be obedient to you!! 7/20/24
Matthew 6 5:8
Jesus tells us today about how our prayer time should be. Verse 5 reminds us that our prayer time should not be for show. As we talk to the Lord, we do not need an audience. As a matter of fact, the Lord tells us in verse 6 to go into a quiet place away from others and pray. Verse 7 reminds us that the use of words over and over again does not impress God. I love the message in verse 8. Remember, the Lord knows our needs before we pray. The Lord likes to hear from His children!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s just thank the Lord for the gift of prayer!! 7/21/24
Proverbs 17:17
How many friends do you have? I don’t mean how many people do you know. Think about what the Bible is saying today about a real friend. A friend loves you all the time. In the good days and the bad. When we are doing good and yes, when we have done bad. A friend loves you and I anyway. Let’s take a minute and thank God for the friends that we do have!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, thank you for every friend that you have placed in my life!!
II Timothy 2:15
Today’s text tells us to study the word. That is not a question- the word study here is a command! God expects His children to eb into the Bible, His word, every day! Why, according to the Bible here, am I to study the Bible? Because God commands it and not to bring shame on myself and the Lord by not rightly sharing the word. In other words, I had better study the Bible so that I can tell others about what God expects, in total truth! Remember, we cannot share what we don’t know!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Help me Lord to study your word daily! 7/23/24
Jonah 3: 1-4
As a child, I am ashamed to say that I did not always list to my mom and dad the first time they would tell me to do something. Sometimes, they would have to tell me two or three times. The Bible tells us in verse 1 that the Lord told Jonah the second time what He wanted him to do. Jonah did it the second time! But, after the first time he had to be put in a bad storm, almost died on a boat and get swallowed by a big fish and stay in the fish’s belly for three day. Three days!! How many times will the Lord have to speak to you and I before we will listen?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to listen to you and help me to obey you.
Luke 22: 31-33
The devil was after Simon Peter. He wanted to destroy him. The Lord Jesus warned Peter. Here is a warning to you and I. The devil would love to destroy our testimony today. The devil is out to get us! Let’s be as close to the Lord as we can!! Go to church, study the Bible, spend a lot of time in prayer!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to stay close to you and Lord protect me!
Joshua 1: 1-6
Today’s scripture shows us that God keeps His word. God has promised this land that they are walking on to His people. At the point of the death of Moses, the people of God were allowed to go into this land. The Bible here reminds us that when God gives us an inheritance, verse 6, no man can take it away. We need to stand with the nation of Israel today!! My prayer, my hope is that America will heed these words and always back the nation of Israel!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s pray for God’s peace to be on the nation of Israel!!
Philippians 4: 4-7
The peace of God, verse 7. Think about it. To get peace in our daily lives some take drugs, some take alcohol, some lie, some move from relationship to relationship. The Bible in this text is clear on how to get peace from God. First, we are to rejoice in the Lord, praise God! Second, we are to let our moderation be known to all! Tell everybody what the Lord is doing in my life! Third, I am to be thankful unto the Lord and tell the Lord my needs and request daily.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to do as the Bible teaches so that I can have your peace daily!
Proverbs 9: 9-10
How wise are you? I don’t mean what education level do you have. I have seen some people with degrees coming out of their pockets, but they were dumb because they did not trust the Lord and believe the Bible.  Real wisdom, real learning comes from a person that fears the Lord. Now that does not mean that a person is afraid of the Lord, but it means that a person has a great respect for Almighty God! If I want to be wiser, get as close to the Lord as I can, wisdom will come!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s ask the Lord for real wisdom in our lives! Wisdom that can only come from Him!
Ephesians 2: 8-9
When I was in Bible College almost 38 years ago, this is one of the first pieces of scripture that I was told to memorize. I remember being taught that it was the grace of God that I was saved. Grace- God’s unmerited favor! God giving me what I did not deserve. I was also taught here that I had nothing to do with being saved, other than faith, other than believing that Jesus died on that cross and arose from that grave for me and you. I could not and did not save myself. That is why the Bible teaches in verse 9, lest any man should boast.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s just thank the Lord for that saving grace!! 7/29/24
Psalm 25: 1-6
I really believe that this is one of the most beautiful Psalm found in the word of God. It would be a good thing if you and I would practice each verse of the first six verses of Psalm 25. Let’s lift up our soul to the Lord (v1). Let’s trust the Lord (v2). Let’s not transgress or sin (v3). Let’s ask the Lord to show and teach us His ways and His paths (v4). Let’s ask the Lord to lead us (v5). And, let’s remember the Lord’s tender mercies and loving kindness. What beautiful words!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, help me to live the word of God.
Hebrews 7: 1-4
Who was this person, Melchisedec King of Salem?  We know that he was a priest of God. The Bible tells us this in verse 1. He had to be of Almighty God for Abraham to give his tithe, his tenth to. But, notice verse 3 again. Without father, without mother, no beginning, no end. Sound like the Son of God “abideth a priest continually”. Think on this today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank you Lord for your word!!
Psalm 150
OK, I know that we have used this text before, but I felt like what a way to end the month! Let’s praise the Lord on this last day of July. When you read this Psalm, let me give you a hint. Rad it slowly about three times, let it sink in.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Lord, allow us to praise you more in the coming days than ever before!!
