Jeremiah 33:3
I love the last line of this verse “Call unto me”. The Bible teaches us there that when we call unto the Lord, He will answer us. He will show us things, Great and Mighty things, that we don’t know already! The message for today- call on the Lord! That is a good thing to do on this first day of May.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray for God to show us how to serve Him better!
5/2/25
John 15:5-9
Today, further the words of our Savior. I love the words in verse 5. What a blessing to get to “abideth” in Him! Verse 7 even tells us that if I abide in Jesus , I will get my prayers answered! I don’t know about you, but I think that it is a great privilege to get to be with the Lord! Think of it this way, it is awesome to hang out with the Lord!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, draw me closer to you today that I may abide closer to you every day!
5/3/25
Psalm 127:1
Have you ever thought about this- Jesus was a carpenter, a builder. According to the scripture here, if Jesus does not build the house or the home, it will not stand! I have married a lot of couples over the almost 40 years I have pastored. The Lord always puts it upon my heart to share this thought, it’s takes 3 to make a marriage work. A man, a woman and the Lord! The Lord knows how to build a home, still today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, would you bless my home and my family today!
5/4/25
James 4:13-16
What are my plans for today? Have you ever had a day that turned out totally the opposite direction than what we intended? Today’s text has a good message about that happening. We should always, always ask for the Lord’s will in our days (verse 15). I believe the Bible here reminds us that we belong to the Lord, after we are saved. Therefore, I can make plans but I need to make sure that they are the Lord’s plans!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, may your will be done in my life today!
5/5/25
Genesis 7:11-18
Today’s scripture is dealing with Noah’s Ark. There is one verse that has always stood out in this test. Verse 16 tells us that it was the Lord that shut the door to the Ark. Think about that for a minute. The Lord shut the door!! That means that no one else could open that door to get in. Remember this, this scripture reminds me that the Lord is in control! Stop worrying about that problem today. The Lord is in control! The Lord is the only one that can open or close doors in our lives!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to remember that you are in control and that only you can open and shut doors in my life.
5/6/25
Revelation 22:7 & 22:12-13
In today’s text, the Lord reminds us of His coming-fast! Jesus Christ is the first and the last. The beginning and the end! It seems to me that the world is not looking for His coming these days. But He is coming to call His church out of this world! It is going to happen and it is going to happen soon! Share that message with somebody today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help to share your coming with somebody today!
5/7/25
Nahum 1:7

Today’s reading is short but powerful! We are told from this scripture that the Lord is good. We are told about the Lord being a strong hold in the day of trouble. But my favorite part of this verse is the last line “he knoweth them that trust in Him. The Lord knows if we belong to Him! Friends, we cannot fool God! So today, let’s be sincere in everything that we do for the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray for strength to serve the Lord more today than yesterday!
5/8/25
Acts 9:16
I love Saul, or as we know him Paul’s testimony! The Lord really changed his life on the Damascus road! Paul was never the same again. How about our testimony today? Has our life changed completely since the Lord saved our soul? If not, something is wrong! As we see in today’s text, after a person has an encounter with Jesus Christ, they are never the same. Share your testimony on how you got saved with someone today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray for a chance to share our testimony today with others!
5/9/25
Psalm 33:12
God has blessed our nation so much over the years! It sure does sadden my heart as to how far from the Lord we have become. Friends, if you have heard me preach lately, then you know that I believe we are very close to the Lord coming to get His church out of this world. Until He does, we need to be sharing Jesus Christ with this world and really with our nation. Jesus is the only one that can change this nation. Don’t give up on it.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, save America!!
5/10/25
Luke 16:15-16
This is why we share the gospel of Jesus Christ! In today’s scripture, understand this is not a request, this is a command. These are the words of Jesus here “Go Ye”. I have heard preachers and church members many times over the years say things like, why won’t they come to church? We have built them a beautiful building to worship God in, why don’t they come. According to the Bible here, they aren’t supposed to come, we are supposed to go get them. Have you invited someone to church lately?
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, give me the strength and the words to invite people to come to Jesus today!.
5/11/25
I Chronicles 16:11
With all that is happening in our nation and our world these days, it seems to be hard to know what to trust. Who to seek for advice or strength. Well, the Bible answers the question here. We should be seeking the Lord all the time, according to the scripture here. Sounds like good advice to me. Let’s look to the Lord for all the answers this day!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s ask the Lord for wisdom and strength in all that we do today.
5/12/25
Philippians 1:21-24
I know that I say this a lot, this is some of my favorite scripture. Paul put it very forward here. He wanted to leave this world and go be with the Lord. But he knew that the Lord had a work for him to do here-to be a leader and a blessing and an encouragement to the family of God! I love verse 21. While living here, our lives ought to be about Jesus. But to die is to gain being with the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray today for a closer walk with the Lord while we are in this world.
5/13/25
Daniel 1:8
Young Daniel here did not want the kings food or drink. He wanted to serve the one true God. There is a great lesson here for you and I. We should do as Daniel and “purpose in our hearts not to defile ourselves with the things of this world”. Remember, as children of God, we are to serve the Lord daily, not the world!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to keep myself clean before you in this old world.
5/14/25
Mark 9:23-24
If you read the verses just before today’s text, Mark 9:14-22, you will find that a man brought his son to Jesus that was possessed with a foul spirit. Jesus made the statement “If thou canst believe”. There is a lot of power in that statement. According to the Lord in verse 23, all things are possible, all things can be taken care of if I will believe upon the Lord and His power! We need to practice that every day! There is not anything impossible with God!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord help my unbelief!
5/15/25
Ecclesiastes 3:14
What a powerful verse! When the Lord does something “it shall be forever”. When the Lord heals, it is forever. When the Lord saves, it is forever! According to this verse, when God does something, it is done right and it will last forever! What a God we serve!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me remember that when you do something in my life, it will be right and remind me it will last forever!
5/16/25
Acts 18:9-1
One of the main tools that the devil uses against the child of God is fear! Fear to speak, fear to share Jesus. The Bible reminds us that if we are saved, the Lord expects us to share Jesus. The Lord reminds that He is with us and that no one can or will hurt us! Let’s speak for the Lord today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s pray for boldness to speak the gospel of Jesus Christ today to others!
5/17/25
Psalm 150
Ok, let’s spend the day doing what this psalm tells us to do. Praise the Lord!! Notice the psalm tells us where to praise the Lord (v.1), why to praise the Lord (v.2), how to praise the Lord (v.3), and who should praise the Lord (v.6). Let’s practice this today and praise the Lord!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: As we pray, let’s lift our hands to the sky and praise the Lord!!
5/18/25
Mark 10:17-22
Think about it. This young man seemed to have everything. In Luke 18:18 we are told that this young man was a ruler. He had power, wealth, probably a lot of friends, the best of clothes and worldly items. What was missing in his life? He wanted eternal life! That’s what he asks Jesus about in verse 17. We need to remember that we cannot buy eternal life! We cannot earn it or deserve it. Let’s share Jesus with someone today. Remember, He is the eternal life giver!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me tell someone about how to receive eternal life through Jesus Christ today!
5/19/25
Job 1:20-22
Job lost everything is a small space of time. Yes, he grieved. Yes, he hurt. But the Bible teaches in verse 22 that he did not sin during the midst of this nor did he challenge God foolishly. He did not go off and blame God. Would you and I be able to handle things the way Job did if we were in his spot? It really does pay to live as close the Lord as we can because we do not know what a day may bring!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to deal with whatever comes my way today!
5/20/25
Hebrews 13:8
Have you ever been around someone that is very moody? They change with the tide. One day they are sweet and kind and loving. The next day they will not even speak. The Bible here reminds us that is not the Lord! He does not change. What a Savior we serve!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, make me more like Jesus today!
5/21/25
Ecclesiastes 3:18
Time is very important! Today’s scripture points this out. There is a time for all things. Here is the point of today’s text-time carries with it purpose. Verse 1 teaches us that God has a purpose for all that we go through in all periods of time. Whatever I am going through right now will only last for a period of time. One of my favorite sayings in the Bible is “and it came to pass”. Time is important but does not stand still. Remember today will pass!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lets pray that the Lord use us for His glory on this day and this time in our lives!
5/22/25
John 14:18-21
Our text today is dealing with Jesus promising the Holy Spirit that would indwell in all believers. My favorite part of this scripture is found in verse 18. Think about these words, “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you”. One of our biggest fears is to be left alone. Jesus here is making a promise to all that trust Him. That promise I will never leave you without comfort. I will come to you. If you are feeling alone today remember this, if I try Jesus as my Savior, the spirit of God will never let me be alone!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Let’s thank the Lord for all the ways He is there!  5/23/25
Jonah 1:1-2
God’s Call- that is the theme of today’s scripture. Did you notice in vers 1 that the word of the Lord came unto Jonah? The Lord shows us that He knows how to call a person to do a work for Him. Verse 2 shows us that God’s call always has a purpose. God called me to preach when I was 17 years old. Does the Lord have a call on your life today? Be faithful to the Lord. Pray daily. Stay in the word. You will know!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me draw closer to you. Lord, help me grow up in the faith!
5/24/25
Ephesians 4:14-15
Did you know that a child a lot of the time will believe everything that they hear? According to today’s text, baby Christians do the same thing. The Bible is teaching us here that we need to be rooted and grounded (Eph. 3:17). The child of God needs to grow-grow up in Jesus Christ. You see, when a person is saved, the growing process begins that day. The more I am in the word and the more time I spend with the Lord, the more I will grow in the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me draw closer to you. Lord help me grow up in the faith!
5/25/25
Proverbs 29:18
Everybody has to have something to look forward to. When it comes to work of God, it’s no different. The Bible here teaches that we need to have goals. Seeing so many saved. Seeing so many get into the house of God. I have learned over the years of serving the Lord that as long as I have a vision in the Lord’s work, God will see that vision met and exceeded! Set some vision goals before the Lord! Then, work and pray toward them and see what happens.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Let’s ask the Lord for wisdom to go beyond our visions of reaching souls for Him!
5/26/25
I Thessalonians 5:1-3
The rapture is going to happen! Today’s text deals with when. The Bible reminds us that we will not have a day or time. But the Bible does give us some strong truths about His coming. First, in verse 2 it tells us that it will come when we least expect it. Then, in verse 3 it tells us that the world will not expect it either. The Bible declares that the world will be calling peace and all of a sudden things will go wild and millions disappear! The point for today- be ready! The Lord is coming!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me be ready for the sound of the trump!
5/27/25
I Samuel 17:45-47
Young David is in the battle of his young life against the giant Goliath. But Davis shows us, as a child of God, how we are to approach the enemy. Verse 45, David said I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Hosts. That name is the name of Jesus! The name whereby you and I are adopted into the family of God through His blood. So remember today, never approach the enemy on your own. Always do it in the name of Jesus!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for allowing me to use your name, the name of Jesus, in battle!
5/28/25
Galatians 1:6-10
This is some very strong scripture. There is but one gospel! Paul was so certain of this truth that he stated it twice (v8-9). Paul even said at the end of verse 9, if someone tries to present another gospel, let him be accursed. Which means let him be damned, or in other words, let that person end up in hell! Friends, the gospel of Jesus Christ is serious business. It should never be watered down or taken lightly! Let’s share the gospel today.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me always be truthful sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
5/29/25
Proverbs 19:24
How many real friends do you have today? I mean real-always there for you, no matter what friend? A preacher friend told me a while back that he had a lot of acquaintances, more than he could count, but he could count on one hand how many friends he has. That is a true statement. The Bible teaches here if we are going to have friends, we have got to be friendly. How friendly today are we towards others? By the way, I wonder who the writer of Proverbs was talking about “is a friend that sticks closer than a brother”? Jesus is His name!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, bless my friends today and thank you Lord for them.
5/30/25
Philippians 4:13
I love this verse of scripture! It has gotten me through a lot over the years. No matter what we face today, there is nothing that we cannot get through with Jesus Christ giving us strength. Memorize this verse. Mark it in your Bible. It will be a blessing to you.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, thank you for always being there when I need you!
5/31/25
Genesis 1:26-27
Sometimes it is a good thing to remember where we come from. Almighty God- “with the Trinity” made you and I. Notice in verse 26 God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness. He was talking to the Son and Holy Ghost. Praise God today for the gift of life!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:  Thank God for life!
