GENESIS 1: 20-23
This preacher loves to fish! I love being around the water. I love to look up and see the birds and feel the wind on my face. Therefore, I like to be reminded every now and then as to where the fish and the birds and the wind come from. They were all created by God! You say, well preacher, I knew that. Maybe, but every now and then it is good to read that just to be reminded!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for sharing your creation with us!

LUKE 16: 19-25
I know in the past that we have looked at this text. But I think we need to study it from time to time. You see, hell is a real place. The Bible teaches that hell was not made for me and you but for the devil and all of the angels or demons that followed him. God have His very best when He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior (John 3:16)! But, if a person rejects Jesus, they will end up in hell someday when they die (John 3:18)! I don’t know about you, but I don’t even want to see anyone go to hell. Let’s warn others about this place today!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me today to warn others about hell and invite them to invite Jesus into their hearts!

GENESIS 19: 26-29
Today’s scripture reminds us that God means what He says! God told Lot and his family not to look back at Sodom and Gomorrah as God destroyed them (Gen 19:17). But in verse 26 in today’s text, Lot’s wife did not listen. She looked back and the Bible declared that she became a pillar of salt. Today’s lesson is this- a lot of people say things they don’t mean. God means what He says!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to always obey you and take you at your word!
9/4/25
I TIMOTHY 1: 12-15
I love Paul’s testimony here! Notice that Paul gave the Lord credit for putting him into the ministry (v 12). Paul talked about not being worthy to serve the Lord (v 13). But then he reminded us of the mercy and grace of God through the Lord Jesus Christ! Verse 15 should be something that we share with someone even today! Jesus Christ came into this world to save sinners!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, allow me to share this message with someone today!
9/5/25
HOSEA 1: 1-3
In today’s text, the Lord told Hosea to go take a “wife of whoredom”. In other words, God told Hosea to take a wife that would not be faithful to him! Why in the world would the Lord tell a man to do such a thing? Because God’s people were not being faithful to Him! Therefore, Hosea would be able to tell the people how that God felt when they cheated on Him by trusting false gods. Sometimes, God allows us, you and I, to go through things to get others attention!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, use me today to get others attention for you!

I CORINTHIANS 9: 22-23
To win someone to Jesus means I have to be on their level. Paul said here if I am dealing with someone who is weak, I have to be weak too. The spirit in this text is telling us that we must be able to reach a person in their world! If they are a mechanic, talk cars. If they are a carpenter, then talk building. Paul reminds us in verse 23 that we do this for the gospel’s sake. Let’s talk to someone today in their world and on their level so that we can lead them to Jesus!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, give me the words to bring someone to the gospel today!
9/7/25
GENESIS 4: 8-13
In today’s text the very first murder in history takes place. Cain kills his brother Abel. Take note in verse 9 that nothing is hidden from God. You and I cannot hide sin or any bad deed from Almighty God! Just as we cannot hide anything from God. The Bible teaches us here that we will face the judgment of God. Notice verse 13-Cain said that he could not bear his punishment from Almighty God. Friends, we had better be as close to the Lord as we can get. Remember- God knows all!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, I repent of all my sins before you today- in Jesus name!
9/8/25
REVELATION 3: 14-17
Today’s scripture tells us of the church age, just before the rapture takes place! The Lord did not seem pleased with this church. In verse 14, He tells the church that they are neither cold or hot-but lukewarm. Verse 16 teaches that the church of this age makes the Lord sick! Friends, we had better be listening for the sound of the trumpet! I believe that we are in this spot. Get ready to leave this world!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help us as the church to be ready for your rapture, even today!
9/9/25
PSALM 93: 1-5
What a powerful Psalm! There are only 5 verses, but powerful scripture! As you read this text today, note in verse 1 how God is clothed- “with majesty”, “with strength”. It talks about the holiness and power of God! Verse 2 deals with God having no beginning and no end- “everlasting”. Verse 3 tells of God’s voice and how He can be heard! Verse 4 deals with the mighty noise of God! Verse 5 deals with the Lord’s mighty works-in His testimonies! What a God we serve!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Almighty God for allowing me to know you and to serve you!
9/10/25
I CORINTHIANS 15: 51-57
I have used this scripture in many, many graveside parts of funeral services over the years. The Bible here is talking about the day when dead bodies in the grave will be brought out of the ground. The word here reminds us in verse 57 that death is not the end for the saved person. The Bible reminds us that the body will come out of the grave one day when the trumpet sounds. Now remember as the Bible here is talking about the body coming out of the ground on rapture day! That soul from the time of death that is saved goes to be with the Lord! WOW- what a Savior!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me win others today to Jesus so that they will be rapture ready!
9/11/25
PSALM 33: 12
As we as a nation remember what happened 21 years ago today, I thought that this would be a good verse to share. God has blessed American, but we sure have strayed a long way from the Lord. Church attendance is down and people just wanting to live for God seem to be attacked more every day! But we cant give up on America. I don’t know about you, but I love this country and I believe that it is worth saving!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, please draw America to you today!
9/12/25
ACTS 4: 7-12
There is power in the name of Jesus! Take notice of verse 8 here. When asked by what power or by what name, the disciples were doing their work in. The Bible shows here that the Holy Ghost will always lead a person to the name of Jesus Christ! Verse 12 in today’s text reminds us that there is salvation in no other name! I don’t know about you today but I have trouble the older I get remembering peoples names! But, there is one name each of us should never forget and that is the name of Jesus! What a Savior!!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to share the powerful name of Jesus with others today!
9/13/25
EXODUS 32: 7-11
Poor Moses! While he was on the mountain before God ready to bring God’s commandments down to the people, the people were at the bottom of the mountain putting together a molten calf so that they could worship it as their god. As Moses stood before the presence of Almighty God, God knew what they were doing and the Lord got very angry at the people! Our lesson for today- God always knows what we are up to and we should never put anything to worship before the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to keep my worship upon you and you only!
9/14/25
MATTHEW 18: 18-20
There is power in prayer! Our text teaches us today that there is power when God’s people stand together and pray! I love verse 20 here. When God’s people come together in the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord’s in the midst. Think about that for a minute. That’s why getting together as the church is so important. The devil knows that the church is dangerous when it get’s together in the name of Jesus! Thank God for the power of prayer when God’s people come together!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for the power of prayer when your people come together!
9/15/25
GENESIS 46: 28-30
Joseph had not seen his father in many years. As a matter of fact, Joseph’s dad thought for a long time that his son was dead. Notice Joseph’s dad’s words in verse 30- now let me die. This man knew that God gave him his son back. What an answer to prayer! Maybe you have prayed and prayed about something today and see no results. Don’t stop! God is still there and God can and will answer, when the timing is right. Keep trusting God and keep praying!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to be mindful that you are still in control!
9/16/25
HEBREWS 9: 19-22
The power of the blood! The Bible here reminds us in verse 18 that the Old Testament was made with the blood. Verse 19 teaches it was the blood of calves and goats. In the New Testament the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, covers all sin! Blood is the only thing that can wash away sin! Verse 22 reminds us that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. Thank God for the blood of our Savior-Jesus Christ!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for the blood of the Lamb of God!!
9/17/25
PROVERBS 24: 1-2
Our text is short today, but powerful! The Bible tells us today to not be envious or want to be like evil people. The Bible here gives warning that the child of God should not want to hang out with evil men. Verse 2 tells us why-because they study how to destroy. The warning today is simple-let’s try not to make evil people our role models. Let’s make our role model Bible heroes, or the Lord Jesus Christ Himself!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to never focus on evil people, people that do not trust in the Lord! Help me to keep my focus on you!
9/18/25
EPHESIANS 4: 1-3
Today’s scripture gives us a personal message to the Child of God. The Child of God is to live a life that brings honor and glory to the Lord who has saved us and called us to do a work for Him! The Bible reminds us in verse 2 to live a humble life, and to tolerate each of our brethren in love. Verse 3 even tells us to endeavor or try to keep peace with all.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to live my life as a Child of God and to bring all honor and glory to you! 9/19/25
PSALM 16: 1
These are troubled days that we live in today. Who do we put our trust in to get us through these days? The government? The doctors? The religious people? People with money? Well, according to the Bible here, the Psalm writer asks the Lord to be the one to get him through-preserve me O God. Let’s take the Bible’s advice today and put our trust in the Lord to get us through!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, would you be my strength, my rock, my keeper, my preserver today!
9/20/25
MATTHEW 7: 1-5
Have you ever been tempted to pass judgment on another person? I will be honest. I have passed judgment on others. According to Jesus here, that is something that we are never to do! One reason not to do it is because the Lord said don’t do it! The other reason not to judge others is because we have problems of our own, who are we to judge others! Let’s spend our time today praising the Lord and saying only good things about others instead of judging them!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to remember not to pass judgment on others.
9/21/25
ISAIAH 65: 17-19
If today’s scripture sounds familiar to you, go read Revelation 21: 1-2. The Bible, no matter what some people say, does not contradict itself! God never goes back on His word. There is one thing to remember today about the Bible. If scripture is taken out of context, it is a dangerous thing. Remember, just as God never changes, God’s word, the Bible, never changes!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to understand your word, the Bible, more than ever before.
9/22/25
I CORINTHIANS 6: 19-20
If there is one that that Jesus taught us in the garden the night of His arrest, it was out will is not important, but God’s will in our lives is what counts (Matthew 26:39). In today’s text the Bible tells us once we are saved, it does not matter what we think, it is about us yielding to the Holy Ghost that lives inside us after we are saved! The price that the Bible is talking about here is the blood of Jesus Christ! Our Lord died on that cross and paid our sin debt in full. Therefore, when we get saved we are His children, we belong to Him! Praise the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, please let me decrease me and increase you in this world!
9/23/25
PROVERBS 22: 1
My daddy used to tell me that a man’s word is his bond. In other words, if I don’t keep my word, I will not have a good name among people. The text today reminds us that a good name and loving favor is more precious than silver or gold. Let’s always be aware that the world and our brethren are watching us every day! Let’s live what we preach!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to always keep my word and help me to live in a way that does not bring reproach on you!
9/24/25
II TIMOTHY 3: 16-17
It has been a while since we shared this part of scripture. A couple of days ago, we were dealing with the Bible never changing. Today, we are reminded as to where the Bible comes from. The Bible, according to today’s text, is God breathed! Inspiration of God means it came from God. It does not contain the word of God, the Bible IS the word of God! Notice verse 17 tells us why God gave us the Bible- so that we are prepared to live in this world “thoroughly furnished”!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, teach me to trust your word more than ever before!
9/25/25
GENESIS 1: 14-19
Today’s text reminds us that “light” was given by God on this planet. I think that we need to be reminded that “light” in this world today, the only light that can lead a person to salvation is still sent from God. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ is the light of this world! So that means that God is still sending the light into this world. Praise the Lord for the light in a very dark world!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, would you allow the light of Jesus Christ to shine through me today in a dark world!
9/26/25
JAMES 1: 2-3
I wonder how many people to as the Bible teaches us to do in today’s scripture. Count it all joy or be happy and thankful when troubles come into our lives. The Bible tells us here in verse 3 why we should be joyful for troubles. Because when troubles come and we stand anyway and even take joy in the trouble and praise the Lord anyway, we grow closer to the Lord and we will have more patience and strength to deal with troubles.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for the troubles that come my way. Thank you for bringing me through the troubles!
9/27/25
PSALM 100: 1-5
It has been a while since we have looked at this Psalm. There are some commands in the text that we often overlook. First, we are commanded to make a joyful noise. Second, we are commanded to serve the Lord with gladness. Next, we are to remember the Lord made us. Then, we are to come into the gates of the Lord’s place being thankful. Then, lastly, we are to remember the goodness and mercy of the Lord!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Thank you Lord for allowing me to serve you today!
9/28/25
EPHESIANS 6: 10-13
The Bible in today’s text reminds us that we had better be wearing the right clothes! We are in a spiritual war every day! The devil and the demons battle Almighty God and His angels constantly. The Bible here reminds us that we had better put on the full armor of God! If you read the next few verses, you will see what all the pieces are in the armor. So, when I get up in the morning, I had better put on all my clothes!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to be dressed right every day!
9/29/25
JOSHUA 1: 1-3
In today’s text Moses, the leader that led God’s people out of Egypt and out of bondage, has died. A lot of times in history, when a good leader dies, things come apart. People wander around and cannot find direction. But I want you to notice in verse 1 here that God was already preparing a new leader to lead His people. Today’s scripture should remind you and I that God will always have someone to get the job done. Let’s keep our focus on the Lord and not world leaders!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to follow you!
9/30/25
HEBREWS 13: 8
I know that we have looked at this verse before but I think that we should see it again. The Bible tells us here that the Lord Jesus does not change! Think about it. Seasons change, cars change, hair styles change, but Jesus Christ, God’s Son, does not change!! He is not moody. He does not come out with a new word from God daily. Let’s try to practice God’s example daily and not change- let’s let Jesus be our example and not change!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Lord, help me to be more like Jesus today!
